“Make money by blogging”, or something more?

John Chow dot Com features a free e-book on “how to make big bucks online“. I too working in the online advertising industry, was eager to trace down a Google ad promising to make money on blogging, that’s how I bumped into John’s site. My first thought was, hey, yet another pyramid scheme, but it proved wrong very soon.

I skimmed through the TOC and the first few pages of his e-book only to find that it is at least as much about doing blogging the right way than making a living from it. So I read on.

John has a sense of humor, and his skill to express his thought is also very much to my liking. He covers a great deal of things about the art of blogging, and sets the basic guidelines to create a great blog on something you’re passionate about.

He also adds a lots of “evil tricks” that look like nuances but really make the difference. Some of the tricks do worth considering to apply.

I kept reading on, and slowly, my idea of who John really is shifted from a tricky businessman to someone way more deep than that. The part surprised and touched me the most was his own story, the way he realized that he can make a living from something he was passionate about, and the way his lifestyle changed from passionate about his hobby to successful in business to fulfilling his life in what-it-is-really-about.

Thanks, John, for sharing your ideas, experiences, and your story so far. You inspired me, attracted one more reader to your blog, and very well earned my first post here.
